Authorisation division
Water supply
Water resources can be supplied from underground (the water-bearing stratum) or from surface waters (waterways, lakes). Requesting authorisation entails the dual aspect of the concession to draw water and the use and creation of drawing works.
Water drains
The delivery systems of waste water may consists of sewers, waterways, surface strata of the subsoil, with the relevant and specific authorisations and prescriptions.
Atmospheric emissions
These authorisations concern heating systems in general and production systems with various types of emission. They are characterised by prescriptions that depend on the capacity of the systems and the type of substances used in the production cycle.
Waste
These authorisations concern all the management activities, with the subdivision into hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, from the temporary deposit phase to the final destination.
Sole authorisations
These authorisations are more recent and encompass the main environmental aspects.
At this time, they can be divided into:
1) Sole Environmental Authorisation (In Italy, AUA)
2) Integrated Environmental Authorisation (In Italy, AIA), relevant to some types of productive plants;
3) Authorisation to produce electric energy from renewable resources, Legislative Decree 387, and from conventional sources, Legislative Decree 115
Other authorisations
These are specific authorisations, not included in those previously mentioned, like: authorisation to install and operate fuel distribution plants for private use, landscape authorisation, etc.
Although they are not true authorisations, “certified notifications” are included in this category, which relate to complex environmental aspects and others, like:
in Italy, the SCIA, or ex-DIA, (Certified Notification of Start-up of Construction Activities),
and the SCIA, ex-DIAP, (Certified Notification of Start-up of Production Activities).
